Jerrold Shiroma
I was born in San Diego, California in 1972, & spent most of my youth in South San Diego, just a few miles from the Mexican Border. In 1997, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I attended San Francisco State University, & received B.A. in English / Creative Writing in 2000.

Also In 1997, I founded the publishing imprint duration press in order to produce chapbook-length selections of contemporary international poets in English translation. Later that same year, I uploaded the first version of the durationpress.com website. In 2000, two chapbooks of my poetry appeared: untitled object (Potes & Poets Press) & 2 poems (a+bend press).

In 2001, I entered Brown University's Graduate Program in Literary Arts & moved to Providence, Rhode Island. I received my M.F.A. from Brown University in 2003, & then relocated back to Northern California, where I remained until 2009.

I currently live in Kailua, HI.
